Joe O'Brien

1 NHL Game

December 16, 2023 Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues. 3-4 loss.

Joe O'Brien played college hockey with Niagara University until 2019. A Missouri native, he was in his third year as a St. Louis Blues area EBUG when he got the call he had been dreaming about. The Dallas Stars, in town to play the Blues, were down a goalie when Jake Oettinger was injured. At the salary cap ceiling, the Stars were unable to recall someone from their AHL affiliate so their only option was to sign someone to an amateur tryout agreement. A goalie signed to an ATO can dress for one NHL game without impacting the salary cap. The Stars signed O'Brien to an ATO and he backup up Scott Wedgewood.

  • Wore #1 with Dallas Stars
