Ron Marlow

At Least 1 NHL Game

October 16, 1973 New York Islanders vs Los Angeles Kings. 4-4 tie.

Ron Marlow turned pro in 1969, signing a three-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. His time in Detroit's system was limited to the minor leagues and shortly before the 1973 training camp was set to being, Detroit informed Marlow that he would not be returning to the club. Marlow soon got a call from the Islanders with an invitation to their training camp. That led to a contract with Marlow slated to backup Glenn Resch in Forth Worth.
Mid-October, 1973 New York Islanders goalie Gerry Desjardins was sidelined with a strained knee ligament. Ron Marlow was recalled from the CHL's Fort Worth Wings to dress as backup to Billy Smith. After one game with the Islanders, Marlow was returned to Fort Wayne but recalled again by the Islanders a couple days later with Desjardins still recovering. It is possible that Marlow dressed for more than one game as New York's backup.
