Bob Vroman had a wild ride December, 1973. Property of the LA Kings, he started the month with the CHL's Albuquerque Six-Guns. Mid-December, he was reassigned to the WHL's Portland Buckaroos. After just a week in Portland, he was sent back to New Mexico. Then just a few days later, he was summoned to the NHL.
December 20, 1973 Los Angeles Kings goalie Gary Edwards broke his finger during practice, sidelining him for an extended period of time. Rogie Vachon took over in net and the Los Angeles Kings recalled Bob Vroman to dress as his backup goalie. Vroman spent a couple weeks with the NHL club until Steve Rexe, another Los Angeles minor league goalie, was recalled to take his place as LA's backup and Vroman was sent back to Portland.
April, 2004 the Portland Tribune interviewed former Buckaroos players, Vroman being one of them. In the article, Vroman mentions having reached the NHL. "I played in the Eastern, Central and American leagues, and I got to the NHL," Vroman said. (1)
