When Claude Hardy won the Allan Cup as a member of the 1967/68 Victoriaville Tigres he gained enough attention to be signed by the Los Angeles Kings.
LA Kings' goalie Wayne Rutledge had to sit out the first half of the 1969/1970 NHL season as he recovered from an operation to remove calcium deposits from his right thigh. Gerry Desjardins played every minutes of LA's first 22 regular season games while Claude Hardy sat as his backup. The Kings clearly lacked confidence in Hardy, a 25 year old with just one season in the AHL under his belt. Hardy was returned to the minors when Rutledge rejoined the Kings. Hardy retired from pro hockey at season's end.
- Wore #1 with the Los Angeles Kings
