In 2006 Scott Munroe graduated from the University of Alabama-Huntsville holding numerous school records. The undrafted free agent was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers in April of that year and immediately joined their AHL club.
Munroe's first stint in the NHL came during the 2006/07 season, his first year of pro. Late December the Flyers were in need of a backup goalie when Antero Niittymaki suffered a minor injury and missed three games. Munro was recalled from the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms and dressed as backup to Robert Esche.

Scott Munroe's second call up to the NHL came during the last season of his three-year contract with Philly. He was recalled to dress as Martin Biron's backup while Antero Niittymaki recovered from a minor case of the flu.
After going unsigned by Philadelphia, Munroe was signed to a one-year contract by the New York Islanders in 2009. He failed to crack the Islanders and when his contract expired he moved to Russian and spent a year in the KHL. Munroe tried to return to the NHL in 2011 when he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He ended up spending the entire season in the AHL. September, 2014 Munroe attended the Columbus Blue Jackets training camp on a tryout deal but was released without a contract.
