The Anaheim Ducks drafted Russian goalie Igor Bobkov in the 3rd round of the 2009 NHL entry draft. October, 2010 the Ducks signed Bobkov to a three-year entry level deal. The contract prompted Bobkov to cross the ocean and play in the OHL with the London Knights. In 2011, Bobkov lead Russian to a World Junior Championship, he was named player of the game in the gold medal match against Canada.
April 5, 2013 the Anaheim Ducks were in a panic to find a goaltender. With Jonas Hiller out due to a sudden case of the flu the Ducks were in need of someone to backup Viktor Fasth. Igor Bobkov was called in on an emergency basis. The Ducks actually dressed 3 goalies on April 5th while playing the Dallas Stars. Bobkov did not arrive in time for opening faceoff so Anaheim signed and suited up 42-year-old Rob Laurie. After just 4 minutes of play in the first period, Bobkov was ready to take Laurie's place. Hiller was healthy enough to dress as the Ducks backup a couple days later so Bobkov was returned to the AHL after just 1 game.
Later that same month Viktor Fasth had to sit out a game to recover from a minor injury. Igor Bobkov was recalled to the team for 1 game, dressing as Jonas Hiller's backup.
Bobkov spent the entire 2013/2014 season in the minors. June 30, 2014 the Ducks signed him to a one-year contract extension.
Early December, 2014 the Anaheim Ducks lost goalie Jason Labarbera to an upper body injury. Labarbera missed 5 games, for which the Ducks recalled Bobkov to take his place. Bobkov served as backup to Frederik Andersen.
